DAMMAM, 21 August 2006 — Saudi actor Khaled Sami is currently filming a musical prelude to his Ramadan special “Boyout Nadimah,” at various locations in the Eastern Province.
Sami told the Al-Watan daily that he feels the film will be popular in the Gulf because it discusses various everyday social issues faced by people living in the region.
Sami stressed the need for the Saudi media to pay more attention to local talent. He affirmed the need for media to encourage actors as it does with football players and singers.
Kemal Abu Raya Takes on Acting in New Film
CAIRO, 21 August 2006 — Singer Kemal Abu Raya is currently playing the character of Ismael Shabana, the elder brother of the legendary singer Abdul Halim Hafiz, in a film called “Al-Andalib.”
Kemal told the Al-Watan daily that he is fortunate to have got the role of the great singer’s brother.
“Shabana had a melodious voice but sacrificed his talent and money to make his brother, Abdul Halim, the greatest singer in the Arab world,” he said.
Kemal has earlier successfully played the role of the great Arabic poet Ahmad Kabir in the film “Umm Kulthum” and also played the noted Egyptian reformer Qasim Amin.
