Cisco Press is breaking new ground in CCNA self-study solutions with a new interactive video instruction software product for the CCNA exam. The “CCNA Video Mentor,” featuring best-selling author and senior instructor Wendell Odom, contains a series of instructional videos that demonstrate how to accomplish various CCNA-level configuration tasks on Cisco routers and switches and better prepare candidates for the CCNA exam.

The “CCNA Video Mentor” is a CD-ROM product featuring 12 videos, totaling more than 2 hours of personal video instruction. The videos consist of animations and video captures of command entry and output, accompanied by audio instruction from Odom on how to configure various router and switch features. For more information see: www.ciscopress.com/title/1587201682.

Cisco Press has also added select videos to a revised edition of the official CCNA preparation product, the “CCNA Official Exam Certification Library,” Second Edition. As the official test preparation package for CCNA certification, the bundle contains the first editions of the “CCNA ICND Exam Certification Guide” and “CCNA INTRO Exam Certification Guide,” as well as 30 minutes of video instruction. The two books inside this Library are the most recent printings of the 2003 Exam Certification Guides, with all updates included, making this the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and accurate self-study preparation package for the CCNA exam.

Additionally, Cisco Press has introduced all new books and electronic training products supporting the four new CCNP certification exams announced recently by Cisco Systems. Twelve of these titles will be published by the end of 2006, with books on all of the exams to be available by March 2007.

The new exams from Cisco Systems aligned with the Cisco Press products are BSCI (642-901) “Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks;” BCMSN (642-812) “Building Converged Cisco Mulitlayer Switched Networks;” ISCW (642-825) “Implementing Secure Converged WANs;” and ONT (642-845) “Optimized Converged Cisco Networks.”

New titles from Cisco Press will include books in the “Exam Certification Guide” and “Self-Study Guide” series. Cisco Press will also debut two new electronic-downloadable series, the “Flash Cards” and “Quick Reference Sheets,” with CCNP titles. Some of the titles to be published in late 2006 include the “BCMSN Official Exam Certification Guide,” “CCNP Self-Study Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks,” all four “Quick Reference Sheets,” and all four electronic, downloadable “Flash Cards.” For more specific information on these products, visit www.ciscopress.com/CCNP.

Cisco Press continues to reach out to technology savvy consumers, as well. The publisher has added two new books to its Simplified Suite of titles in 2006 to help consumers network their home computers, integrate Internet phone services and devise security strategies. The new books are “Internet Phone Services Simplified” and “Home Network Security Simplified.”

“Internet Phone Services Simplified” (www.ciscopress.com/title/1587201623) takes the guesswork out of VoIP phone services, helping consumers utilize all that the Internet has to offer. Internet phone services offer great advantages over existing telephone systems, allowing users to save money and make and receive calls using high-speed and broadband services. With “Internet Phone Services Simplified,” consumers can learn how to subscribe to a service, install equipment and troubleshoot potential issues. Users will be able to compare different services and make the most of VoIP features.

“Home Network Security Simplified,” (www.ciscopress.com/title/1587201361) is a graphic-based title describing the fundamentals of home network security, and shows how to design security strategies. One additional title in the Simplified Suite series will be launched this month: “Wireless Home Networking Simplified,” (www.ciscopress.com/title/1587201615).
