BOMBAY, 16 March 2006 — The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) yesterday once again re-nominated Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and its senior leader Vasant Chavan as party candidates for the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) elections from Maharashtra. Patel was elected to the upper house for the first time in 2000. Chavan was elected to the house in April 2005. The Congress party has not yet decided on its candidates for the biennial elections, but Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is sure to be one of its candidates.
