RIYADH, 28 March 2006 — An Indian IT firm Wipro Infotech, which is closely working with the Dar Al-Riyadh Group headed by Prince Turki, is anticipating a surge in growth in its Saudi operations where it is targeting multimillion dollar projects, especially in the oil, industrial and finance sectors.

Anurag Srivastava, Wipro’s vice president for Asia-Pacific and Middle East operations, discussed the company’s Saudi operations in an interview with Arab News last week.

“Wipro had deployed some 400 top-notch consultants in the Middle East region including Saudi Arabia,” said Srivastava. “We are also close to signing big job orders for IT consultancy, solutions and services from different business entities including those working in oil and business sectors.”

Srivastava did not provide any further details about these deals or name with whom these deals were being made. He did say Wipro professionals are also working in development facilities in India besides the consultants based in this region.

Wipro serves more than 421 global customers in 35 countries with IT solutions. The company has contracted for regional players, including Saudi Polyolefins Company, Arab National Bank (ANB) and Gulf Insurance Company.

Srivastava said that his company has launched a so-called Global Service Management Center in Mysore, India. The facility provides support to customers of the Middle East and Asia-Pacific countries. “This center will act as a backup for global customers,” he said.

Services offered by Wipro include software application development and maintenance, system integration, package implementation, IT infrastructure management, total outsourcing services and business and IT consulting services.

This wide array of services straddles across industry verticals; key among them being government, manufacturing, banking & finance, telecom and healthcare.
