In another operation the army destroyed a radio station in Khyber Agency used by a local cleric to propagate against a rival religious group.

The station was used by the followers of Mufti Shakir of Lashkar-e-Islami.

The political agent of the Khyber Agency had asked the local people to vacate the area before the army launched the operation.

Twenty-five people were killed during clashes between the followers of Mufti Shakir and his rival Pir Saifur Rehman.

Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao told Arab News the government always ensures that innocent citizens are protected and any army operation targets only the miscreants.
