Dubai Set for Indian Film Awards Ceremony

DUBAI, 30 April 2006 — The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend, which will feature a series of glamorous high profile events including a film festival, awards ceremony, charity fashion show and a bilateral business forum, will be held in Dubai from June 14 to 17, at the spectacular Airport Expo. This was announced at a press conference held at the Grand Hyatt, Dubai yesterday.

Saeed Al-Nabouda, CEO of the Dubai Shopping Festival and the Dubai Summer Surprises, gave the welcoming address on behalf of Sheikh Ahmed ibn Saeed Al-Maktoum, President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation.

The press conference, which was also addressed by IIFA Brand Ambassador and Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Mohammed Ali Al-Hashimi, Executive Chairman of Zabeel Investments, laid out the strategic vision for the four-day spectacular.

As Dubai gets ready to play host to this prestigious event, with the glitz and glamour of the entire Indian film industry, fans of Indian cinema across the world can look forward to exciting contests and also win a lifetime opportunity to meet their favorite Indian film stars in Dubai.

More than 450 delegates from India, including the crème de la crème of Indian cinema and international media, are expected in Dubai for the duration of the event and the show will be watched by a record global television audience of over 400 million people.
