MADINAH, 2 November 2006 — A young Saudi taxi driver was shocked when he found a huge amount of US dollars, Saudi riyals and euros in a suitcase that had been left in his taxi by a passenger. Bandar Al-Jabri remembered that the case belonged to a passenger whom he drove from Madinah to Jeddah’s King Abdul Aziz Airport.
The young cabbie checked the case to search for any information that could lead to its owner. It was then that he remembered that the man was flying to Canada.
Al-Jabri immediately returned to the airport only to find that the Canada flight had already left. It was then that he looked inside the suitcase and found $5,000, SR8,500 and 300 euros besides a copy of the Holy Qur’an, a prayer rug and some documents, which luckily included some contact numbers.
Al-Jabri called the cell phone number and contacted the Canadian, who received the news with relief that his belongings were safe in the hands of the cabbie. Al-Jabri said that the owner of the suitcase had lost hope of finding his belongings and was very grateful. The man gave him the address of a relative in Madinah.
“I immediately took the case to the relative who too was very pleased,” Al-Jabri said.
