Bachchan Festival to Show Films From Yesterday and Today

DUBAI, 5 May 2006 — Dubai-based broadcaster ARY Digital Network has announced a four-week Amitabh Bachchan Film Fest to begin on its channel in Pakistan starting May 13, 2006. The fest titled “Sab ka Baap” is set to showcase a mix of super hit Amitabh Bachchan films from yesteryears and today.

“He is the biggest film star of our time, and is loved by fans and audiences globally and as much more so in Pakistan than in any other place in the world,” said Salman Iqbal — President & CEO of ARY Digital Network.

“This is another step by ARY Digital to play its part in helping open more avenues to bridge gaps between the two countries and we feel an exchange of entertainment is one of the most important tools in this process.”

The films are to be broadcast on the channel during the fest are Don, Satte Pe Satta, Ek Ajnabi and the recent blockbuster Black.

“I feel very honored, very obliged, very humbled, by the affection and love the people of Pakistan have shown toward me, toward my films, during moments of crisis and during moments of my illness. I know there are several among you who have prayed for me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope that you will continue with your affection and I hope that I can continue to work and be able to provide some sort of entertainment to you,” said Bachchan in a message he gave to the Pakistani people, during a candid interview to ARY Digital in Dubai.

“I have always considered myself a part of your country. My mother was born and brought up in Layallpur (Faislabad), so in some way I have a family connection there and I know that our cultures are similar. I hope we can live peacefully together and continue to prosper in our respective regions.” Bachchan added.
