JEDDAH, 5 November 2006 — The International Boxing Tournament kicked off yesterday in Tunisia. Saudi Arabia is participating in the tournament with five boxers. Eighty boxers from 17 Arab and African countries are also in the fray.
The Saudi team is hoping to gain experience and are using this event as a preparatory for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Doha from Dec. 1-15.
The event is being held as part of the celebrations of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s 19 years of reign of the country.
The Saudi boxers are, Saad Al-Dahhas in 48 kg, Ahmed Al-Sallim in 51 kg, Ibrahim Faig in 54 kg, Mabkhout Haddadi in 64 kg and Ahmed Marzoug in 75 kg.
Table Tennis Federation Gets SR200,000
JEDDAH, 5 November 2006 — President of the Arab and Saudi Table Tennis Federation Mohmmed Al-Husaini thanked Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of Saudi Youth Welfare, Saudi Football Federation and the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, for his generous SR200,000 donation to the federation. The donation was made at the federation’s 50th anniversary, which was held in Lebanon.
Saudi National Squash Teams in Kuwait
JEDDAH, 5 November 2006 — The Saudi youth and under-15 and 19 national squash teams are taking part in the 11th Gulf Squash Championship starting today in Kuwait.
The players are, Mohammed Al-Seif, Tahir Al-Bittiyan, Ahmed Abu Rigga and Ibrahim Bu Huwaih are in the youth group, while Moussa Al-Hazmi, Ali Al-Saeed and Hussain Al-Seif are in the novices group.
Federation council member Abdulaziz Al-Battal; administrator Tariq Ishri; referee Mohammed Al-Misaeid and coach Fayad Safir Allah are also in the delegation. (Razan Baker)
