JEDDAH, 7 May 2006 — US Consul General Tatiana Gfoeller praised the bravery of five consulate employees, who lost their lives when Al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the compound in December 2004, at the grand opening of the Heroes’ Hall, a new building of the US Consulate General here during a private gathering of the consulate staff.
“The consulate’s new building honors the five men, our heroes, who laid down their lives for their friends here on Dec. 6, 2004, to those who were wounded in that attack, and to all those, living or dead who encourage us day after day to do better — to be better. That’s what heroism — that’s what life — is all about,” the consul general said.
The consulate staff gathered in the new building to honor the heroes of the December 2004 terrorist attack.
“Many individuals at the consulate were injured in the attack and survived. And they still come to work here every day,” said Anise Puckett, general services officer. “This building will be enjoyed by the survivors for years to come, and every day we’ll remember our heroes because their memories are still with us.”
