JEDDAH, 7 May 2006 — Samir Digital Technology (SDT) and E-Ten, Taiwan’s major vendor of embedded devices, have formed a partnership, according to an announcement made here yesterday.

Taipei-based E-Ten and SDT, a master distributor of digital and audiovisual products in the Middle East, have formed a partnership in a bid to make E-Ten handheld devices a globally successful brand, Samir’s Marketing Director Saher AlHindi and E-Ten’s Assistant Sales Manager Pedro Ko told a joint press conference at Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts.

“The partnership ensures proven channel and after-sales support for all E-Ten customers,” said Ko who gave a presentation on E-Ten and its range of pocket PC phones, GPS PDA phones and other handheld devices to markets in the region. He described the partnership as an incredible opportunity for the E-Ten to become a globally recognized brand in the handheld market.

“E-Ten has been aware for some time that there is a very strong and growing demand for high-tech products in the Middle East, However, having a range of first-class products that meet consumer demands is only a small part of the challenge when entering a new market,” Ko said.

“Through this partnership, E-Ten will gain the benefit of SDT’s years of experience acting as a distributor in the Middle East which will help us ensure success of this project,” he added.

“SDT has been operating in the Middle East since 1999. The company, with Kingdomwide offices in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province, has a proven track record of effective distribution and support, and already has profitable and long-term relationships established with both small and large digital device retailers throughout the region,” AlHindi said, adding that SDT employs a team of well-trained and aggressive merchandisers and sales specialists, and has a well-equipped and comprehensive network of skilled technical support staff capable of satisfying E-Ten customers with prompt and effective after-sales support.

Market testing of E-Ten’s pocket PC phone products has already been completed with “highly favorable” results. “E-Ten pocket PC phones have excellent features and a commitment to quality,” AlHindi said, adding that he was hopeful that the product range will be well accepted by customers in the Middle East.

Ko’s presentation reflected on the features of E-Ten’s M600 (WiFi/GPRS) with permanent access to the stock market via the Internet and G 500 with PDA and GPS. They come with Arabized software featuring Qur’an, bilingual transcriber and dictionary, Hijri calendar, prayer time, finger clix, wireless games and Tarjem and XMS. They are WiFi certified with Bluetooth capability and are designed for Windows Mobile.
