JEDDAH, 10 May 2006 — Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom retired Adm. Shahid Karimullah opened here yesterday the newly-installed electronic token disperser at the Consulate General in Jeddah to facilitate the issuance of passport and other consular services.
Talking to newsmen, the ambassador said the new system would solve some of the problems faced by Pakistani expatriates in Jeddah adding “he would make all-out efforts to solve all other problems of the Pakistani community.”
The ambassador said he was trying to expedite the work on the new building and considerable progress had been made. “As soon as the no-objection certificate for the construction is obtained, work will start on the project,” he said.
He said manual passports were also being issued now that will gradually be replaced by machine-readable passports.
The ambassador, after the opening ceremony, was shown the working of the consular section.
