It is an undeniable fact that the Jews interfere in the elections in European countries and the United States with the sole purpose of protecting the interests of Israel including its colonization and territorial expansion into Arab lands. With devious schemes and calibrated moves Israel has succeeded in creating the impression that the Jewish power is a decisive factor in elections in Western countries.
It was quite natural that Israel showed deep interest in the recently held Italian elections. It could be attributed partly to historical reasons and partly to Italy’s notable position among the advanced countries of Europe. Italy is a powerful member of the European Union that used to show considerable interest in the Israeli-Palestine conflict. Historically the Jews had a deep-seated fear of Italians, whether it was the ancient Romans or the modern Fascists who in collusion with Germans persecuted the Jews in Europe.
Though history never repeats itself, the Israelis are a community who cling to the history more than any other race hoping for, or fearing, its repetition. They await the establishment of a greater Israel because they believe they had a vast empire millenniums ago. They are also haunted by an obsessive fear that the old days of hostilities and persecutions may return.
The recent Italian elections raised the concerns of Israel largely because of two reasons.
There are about 40,000 Jews in Italy mainly concentrated in Rome, the political capital, and Milan, the industrial capital of the country. Israel regards the Jewish people in different parts of the world as its citizens who in turn display more loyalty to the Zionist state than to the country where they belong. Israel considers that it is its responsibility to look after the interests of the Jewish minorities in other countries, particularly in light of the increasing manifestations of hostility toward Jews in several parts of Europe.
Israel also views the presence of Jews in Europe and US as a base for defending its unscrupulous policies. It manages to garner the blind Western support for its policies by directly exploiting the guilt feeling of the Europeans for their role in the Nazi persecution of the European Jewry.
The second reason for Israel’s interest in the Italian elections is its relations with Italy in trade and military cooperation. The two countries had signed several agreements for manufacturing and developing advanced weapons in the past. Moreover Israel and Italy have jointly conducted several military exercises. The collaboration in matters related to defense has brought the two countries closer.
Israel’s high expectations about its clout among the Italian Jews have, nevertheless gone awry. Israel had instructed Jews in Italy to vote and work in favor of Berlusconi. His rival Prodi’s sweeping victory has made it abundantly clear that the Italian people are concerned about their own welfare and are not willing to sacrifice their national interests for the cause of Zionism. To make things worse, the Israeli ambassador to Italy had earlier labeled the top communist leader in Italy an extremist and supporter of terrorism because he allowed the national flags of Israel and the United States to be burned in a leftist demonstration in Rome. In light of the changed political environment in Italy, Israel also remembers with concern an earlier statement of a spokesman of the Jewish community in Italy describing the Communist Party chief as a threat to Italy’s foreign interests.
Now the Jewish community fears that the victory of the left would weaken the Israeli-Italian relations.
The Italian elections have also proved that the Jewish minorities can’t influence the outcome in the elections in European countries because the people in those countries know what is good for them. This fact however does not rule out the European support for Israel against the Arabs considering the Western hatred of Muslims dating back to the days of the Crusades. Another reason why the Europeans including Italians will continue supporting Israel is because they got rid of the Jews from their midst by founding a Jewish state and sending them to the new state.
