High-Tech Help for Hearing Aid Users

Starkey Laboratories has introduced a new hearing system which provides hearing aid users with more natural, more normal hearing. The new Starkey hearing system includes the Destiny line of smart hearing aids, the intuitive Inspire OS software and Starkey’s proprietary nFusion technology.

In an industry first, Starkey’s new hearing system leverages the power of nanoscience — science at the molecular level — to pack more features and functions than ever into its Destiny series of hearing aids and to activate those features automatically. As a result, Destiny hearing aids are the only hearing aids in the world to offer three features that address users’ most common complaints. More specifically, Destiny hearing aids get rid of that annoying whistling sound often associated with wearing hearing instruments; they let users hear exactly what they want to hear, even in extremely noisy situations; and they automatically and instantaneously adjust for and switch to different listening environments, making them nearly biological in their response.

Starkey’s Destiny series of hearing aids are available worldwide. The series includes the Destiny 400, 800 and 1200 and is available in behind-the-ear, in-the-ear, in-the-canal and completely-in-the-canal models. To learn more about Destiny and Inspire OS, visit www.StarkeynFusion.com.

Safe, Effective Screen Cleaner for LCDs

ScreenTek has created an LCD screen cleaning solution called PixelClean developed specifically by the company for new generation high-gloss LCD screens. While high-gloss screens display sharper and more vibrant images than their traditional counterparts, fingerprints and smears tend to appear more prominently as well, requiring the need for more frequent cleaning.

PixelClean is a polymer-based formula that is free of ammonia and alcohol. It is ideal for cleaning and protecting high-gloss finishes, but works well on other types of LCD screens, such as traditional laptop screens and LCD monitors as well. It repels dust by eliminating the build-up of static electric charges. It is safe to use on a regular basis, unlike ammonia-based formulas, which may cause damage to high-gloss screens by etching the finish. It also does not leave behind streaks, which is something that alcohol-based formulas may do. PixelClean is biodegradable and environmentally safe.

PixelClean is available as a 4 oz. spray, which comes with the reusable PixelWipe cleaning cloth, or in individual one-time use “twin packets,” which contain a PixelClean pre-saturated disposable wipe and a disposable dry buffing wipe. The product can be purchased online at http://www.pixelclean.com/bw.html. Free samples of the product may also be requested through the website.

Smallest and Lightest Camcorder

Sony Gulf has launched the smallest and lightest high-definition camcorder, the Handycam HDR-HC3. This sleek camera, priced at only 4,999 dirhams shatters the notion that high-definition video recording is for advanced videographers only. Compared to its predecessor, the HDR-HC1, the new HDR-HC3 is 26 percent more compact, packed with easy-to-use features and is more affordable.

Weighing just 510g, the HDR-HC3 using the HD Codec Engine, records in 1080 effective scanning lines, twice as many compared to standard definition and captures four times more video information on every single minor detail for an amazing viewing experience on a high-definition TV. Its multi-connectivity HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) connects to any digital visual interface devices like a television or a home theater system with the same cable, to enable instant high quality video and sound reproduction.

The HDR-HC3 model features a professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens and Sony’s new ClearVid CMOS Sensor technology. The camcorder shoots four-mega pixel still images, stored on an optional Memory Stick PRO Duo media card, for easy transfer between compatible devices.
