RIYADH, 25 May 2006 — Members of the Bahrain national team are coming for the Mitsubishi May Monthly Medal golf tournament tomorrow at the Dirab Golf Club here.
The Bahrainis, who pride themselves as the best golfers in the Arab and Gulf levels, are to pit skills with Dirab’s regulars during the 18-hole strokeplay event. They will be here on special invitation by the tournament sponsor Mitsubishi.
A total of 105 players are expected to turn out for the 7:30 a.m. shotgun tee-off tomorrow.
Handsome prizes wil be on offer in the four handicap divisions, three for men’s and one for ladies. The First Division is four golfers with 0-9 handicap, Second Division 10-18, Third Division 19-28 and Fourth (Ladies) Division 0-36.
Each division will have three prizes and there will also be prizes for longest drive and closest to pin. Adding to the fun is the raffle draw of a 49-inch color television set.
Mitsubishi car demonstration and free driving trial have also been scheduled for the day.
If conditions proved favorable, low scores will come easily as was the case during the last two monthly events.
Dirab Golf Club Manager Bouchaib El-Jadiani and his staff are organizing the event in cooperation with the Dirab Golf Committee chaired by Tom Matthews.
