JEDDAH, 26 October 2006 — Egyptian actress Rania Fareed Shauki said she was happy with the positive response she received soon after the launch of her new television series “Souk Al-Khudar” (“The Vegetable Market”).
The film features well-known actors and actresses such as Feefi Abdu, Ahmed Budair, Ahmed Khaleel, Khairiya Ahmed and Taalif Abdul Munem Shatta. Muhammad Al-Naqli produced the film.
“I am presenting an entirely new character in this film. I have never acted this character before,” Shauki told the Saudi daily Al-Watan in a report published yesterday. Shauki also pointed out that she had escaped from producers’ attempts to give her a stereotype role.
She has recently completed shooting her first television film named “Naama” in which she plays a leading role with Kamal Abu Rayya, Ahmed Khaleel, Susan Badr, Jamal Ismail. Written by Muhammad Aziz, the film is produced by Dhia Fahmi.
In Naama, Shauki leaves her husband and daughter after finding out that her husband was immersed in corruption. She becomes a lawyer and takes on her husband in courts.
