Kingdom Clinch Silver in Football Tilt for Police

JEDDAH, 29 May 2006 — Saudi Security Forces failed in their bid to regain the title they won in 2002 and had to settle for the silver medal in the 6th International Football Championship for Police.

The Saudis reached the final where they lost against Ukraine 1-0.

The championship, which started on Thursday and ended Saturday, was hosted by Italy and attracted teams from 40 countries.

The Saudi Security Forces won their first match against the Italian Carabinieri Mirolla 3-1 to lead Group A. They lost against BM Roma 6-0 but then came back with further victories against Ukraine 2-1 and Romania 4-0 to advance in the semifinal.

The Saudi players who presented the Kingdom during this championship were: Abdulla Al-Rashoud, Misfir Al-Bishi, Faisal Al-Taweel, Khalid Al-Angri, Fahd Al-Doussari, Walid Al-Sabhan, Ali Al-Sitaihi, Abdullah Al-Doussari, Abdulrahman Al-Owaidi, Jaafar Al-Sibayi, Bandar Al-Mowainy and Nassir Al-Doussari. The Saudi team were accompanied by their coach Yousif Khamis and his assistant, Abdullah Al-Dhayaan, who supervised their training before and during the matches.
