JEDDAH, 31 May 2006 — An inmate who returned to jail in Arar, in the north of the Kingdom, was welcomed back by fellow convicts, some of whom were responsible for sending him to the hospital in the first place, Okaz daily reported yesterday. The impromptu “welcome home” party involved dancing and singing in honor of the homecoming. The man was admitted earlier to the hospital with a broken nose and lesions after fellow prisoners suspected him of being an informer. Apparently, somebody reported the paramedic who was smuggling drugs into the prison, and several inmates were on the hunt for the mole responsible for cutting off their drug supply. After realizing that they sent the wrong man to the hospital, the inmates apparently felt sorry for their mistake.
