CAIRO, 7 June 2006 — Egyptian actress Nelly Karim has turned down a one hundred thousand Egyptian pounds increase to her wage in return of playing seductive roles that call for intimacy. The actress stressed that even if she were offered a one million EGP increase she would not consider playing such roles, because it is not of her nature.
Karim is preparing for her role in “Akher El Dinia” (The End of the World) alongside actors Yousif Sharif, Wahidi Karam, Majida Al Khatib, and Randa Al Buhairi.
Karim plays the role of a radio broadcaster in the film that is written by Mohammad Rafaat and directed by Amir Ramses.
The actress is also preparing for another role in the film “Shaqit Masr Al Jadeeda” (New Egypt’s Apartment), alongside Khaled Abu Al Naja and Lubliba.
Recently, Karim denied the existence of disputes between her and actor Mustafa Shabaan. The two star together in the new film “Fatih Aynak” (Open Your Eyes) along with Khaled Zaki and Yousif Al Sharif. The film was written by Mohammad Hifthi and directed by Othman Abu Laban.
Rumors claim that arguments over the film’s details erupted between the two. Karim stated that the rumors are false, and that she and Mustafa are on excellent terms, describing him as one of her trusted friends.
