ABHA, 9 June 2006 — A Saudi student, who had ingested a large quantity of an undisclosed medication in an apparent suicide attempt possibly related to her examinations, died in hospital yesterday.

The 18-year-old student was admitted to the local military hospital in Khamis Mushayt on Tuesday night.

A source told Arab News that investigators attributed the death of the young woman to school-related pressures, family troubles or a psychological disorder. Investigators said the girl had undergone therapy three years ago.

In a separate incident, police in Asir captured a number of foreign workers who were running a liquor factory located on the Riyadh highway.

Police in Tandaha area raided a house in Subat Sala after a stakeout of the property. Police found 15 big barrels of liquor and 60 bottles ready for distribution.

Police are still investigating. Another bootlegging operation was busted in Riyadh earlier this week.
