JEDDAH, 11 June 2006 — Thai expatriates in Jeddah and the rest of the Western Province marked their country’s national day by organizing a blood donation camp at Sheraton Ballroom here over the weekend. The community paid rich tribute to their King Bhumibhol Adulyadej on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne.
The Thai Consulate General, in coordination with the Thai community, observed the anniversary by hosting a formal reception that was attended by officials, diplomats and businessmen.
A pictorial exhibition about the king and a Thai dance performed by children highlighted the celebration.
The blood donation camp was held in cooperation with King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center to celebrate the event and express the community’s gratitude to the Kingdom.
Thai Consul General Sukasem Yothasamutr gave the message of anniversary greetings to the community. King Bhumibhol Adulyadej is the longest reigning king who was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1927. He succeeded to the throne on June 9, 1946.
