JEDDAH, 15 June 2006 — An enraged mother of a schoolgirl in Riyadh was so angry with her daughter’s poor exam results that she assaulted and threw coffee at teachers accusing them of deliberately down-marking her daughter. The mother came to school seeking an explanation why her daughter failed in six subjects including mathematics and grammar. When teachers tried calming the woman down she threw a cup of coffee at them and threatened to beat them with a coffee stand. Teachers finally managed to push the woman out of the staff room. The mother then continued cursing and swearing at the teachers and even threw a glass bottle at other teachers who were watching from a distance. Police then later arrived at the school and arrested the woman, Al-Watan daily reported.
