Ex-Lover Throws Acid on Girl

KARACHI, 19 June 2006 — A professional young gymnast Jameel threw acid on his friend Asma’s face after the girl’s family rejected the boy’s proposal. The girl Asma, who is also a gymnast by profession, was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi with her face completely burned. The man attacked her while they were rehearsing for their performance for the weekend show. The couple met two-and-a-half years ago at a funfair. They were currently working at a circus that had come to Karachi’s Khajji Ground.
