RIYADH, 1 July 2006 — Jeddawi actor and the 2005 winner of the pan-Arab version of the Star Academy talent contest, Hisham Abdulrahman said the Kingdom’s first feature film “Keif Al-Hal?” was well received at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
The movie, which was filmed in Dubai and stars Hind Muhammad, a 25-year-old Saudi actress, is described as a comedy-drama. The film revolves around a young woman who finds herself torn between modernity and tradition.
“Hind was brave in taking on the role of Dunya — other actresses in Riyadh would have hesitated,” Ayman Halawani, the producer told the BBC in May.
“She’s shown that a Saudi actress can both be attractive and dignified.”
The film, which played in a packed theater at Cannes, has received several invitations to show at other festivals this year.
