JEDDAH, 3 July 2006 — What’s a car thief supposed to do after a busy day stealing cars? One thief, who had just as big of an appetite for food as he did for cars, stole a car in Jeddah’s Al-Baghdadiah district and then went to a nearby restaurant for a shawarma, a common Middle Eastern sandwich composed of strips of saved lamb or chicken, served with vegetables and a dressing, the Okaz daily reported. Meanwhile, the owner of the car had reported the theft and police were already at the scene of the crime investigating. The preoccupied thief nor heard the blaring police sirens or noticed the policemen outside the restaurant who had spotted the stolen car. As he finished up and got into the hot car, the police pounced on the thief and promptly arrested him.
