SHARJAH, 3 July 2006 — Air Arabia, the Sharjah-based budget airline, has announced 20 additional flights to Jeddah between July 18 and Aug. 12.

The increased schedule is part of the airline’s efforts to provide a convenient and cheap service to people who wish to perform Umrah during the summer holidays.

The additional flights will be scheduled to leave Sharjah around midnight and will return from Jeddah early in the morning. Regular flights to Jeddah will continue to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Adel Ali, CEO of Air Arabia, said the airline company decided to increase flights to cope with the extra demand for flights during the Umrah season.

“The decision to add the extra flights for Umrah reflects our commitment to the people of this region to provide them with affordable travel and present them an opportunity to perform Umrah,” said the official.

“As we increase the ease and accessibility for more people to make this sacred journey to the holy land, Air Arabia would like to express its gratitude to the government and civil aviation authorities in Saudi Arabia for their support and assistance in granting us the rights for the flights,” Ali said, adding that the company hoped to operate more flights on their routes to the Kingdom.
