Jizan Judge Really Despises Cigarettes

JIZAN, 7 July 2006 — An Egyptian man decided to light up a cigarette in a courthouse while he was waiting to process his complaint over money owed to him. A judge happened to wander by the room where the man was puffing away, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. Incensed at the man’s disregard for the courthouse’s no-smoking policy, the judge ordered the man held in a jail cell for 24 hours, where, presumably, the man was not permitted to smoke.
