JEDDAH, 24 November 2006 — The two-week Saudi cultural festival organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information in Egypt is drawing huge crowds. The festival was opened on Nov. 15.

The event, titled “Saudi Cultural Festival Days”, was inaugurated by Saudi Culture and Information Minister Iyad Madani. Egyptian Culture Minster Farook Hosni was also present. “The festival is a refection of the cultural and scientific development in the Kingdom,” said Muhammad Ibrahim, executive director of the Alexandrian Creativity Center, yesterday. Muhammad Ibrahim demanded holding of the festival not only in other Egyptian cities but also in more Arab countries.

Hundreds of Saudi intellectuals, writers, poets, singers and painters are participating in various events highlighting the cultural life of Saudi Arabia.

A number of Saudi children, including girls, between the ages of six and 18 are participating in the events. The festival aims at strengthening relationship between the people of the two countries and provide them opportunities to exchange their cultural backgrounds.
