DUBAI, 23 November 2006 — Lebanese singer Diana Haddad will shortly be leaving for Kuwait to participate in a media program by invitation of the Kuwaiti Information Ministry, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday. She will also hold a press conference to explain why she and some other Arab female singers such as Nancy Ajram, Elissa, and Amal Hijazi, were not allowed to hold musical events in Kuwait on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
Haddad will also hold a concert in Abu Dhabi before she’s off to Yemen to perform for the first time there.
The report said that the prohibition by Kuwaiti officials to Haddad and others performing during Eid events was attributed to the inappropriate style of their performances and their provocative clothing.
