TAIF, 3 August 2006 — Saudi cycling star Ayman Al-Jabarti won his second medal yesterday by winning the 120-kilometer road race in the junior division in the 14th Arab Cycling Championship here.
Al-Jabarti added the gold medal to the bronze he won in the 25-kilometer race on opening day Tuesday when he posted the winning time of three hours and 12.28 seconds. The silver medal went to Algerian Shaban Hisham who checked in a fraction of a second behind Al-Jabarti, while Kareem Ahmad of Egypt took the bronze with a clocking of 3:13.22.
The three-day competition ends today with the staging of the centerpiece 150-kilometer road race in the men’s division. The race route will start in front of King Fahd sport city, pass through Al-Seel Road all the way to Al-Shafa Road and Al-Hadban Park and then back again to the King Fahd Sport City.
