Teachers in India, Pakistan to Tutor US Students
With the launch last week of Tutors Without Limits (www.tutorswithoutlimits.com), over 100,000 Indian and Pakistan tutors and teachers are expected to set up their own Internet businesses in the next month to teach students in the United States. Indian and Pakistan teachers can start up their own tutoring and teaching business in minutes for free, which is why TWL is being characterized as the “eBay of teaching.”
Tutors Without Limits incorporates new Web 2.0 AJAX technology to create the most advanced learning system for teaching on the Internet in a system called the Lesson Board. As one of the first teachers to use the Lesson Board remarked: “This is just like teaching in my classroom!” But it is not just the Lesson Board that grew up over this summer, eBay’s Skype technology has matured to where speaking to India from the US is now as clear as a local call in the United States. The floodgates for Educational Services Outsourcing (ESO) are now open.
As America starts school in September, parents and students will be able to find help at any time of the day or night. US students have been paying $40 an hour on average for tutoring but last year, Indian call centers started offering tutoring services ranging from $14 to $20 an hour. With Tutors Without Limits, tutors will be offering their services directly to students at prices they determine. The TWL marketplace will quickly sort services based on quality, content, qualifications and recommendations.
But it is not just American students that will benefit from outsourced teaching services — the UK, Canada, Japan and Europe all have a high interest in tutoring. For example, Japanese students spend more money on education outside schools than they spend on their official school education.
New Regional VP for SITA ME and Turkey
Due to the recent consolidation of SITA SC and SITA INC into a single organization, SITA has announced the appointment of Hani El Assaad, to take on the role of Regional VP for the Middle East and Turkey. El Assaad was previously SITA’s Regional VP for the Middle East and Africa.
Part of the recent SITA restructuring included the implementation of the new Sales and Relationship Management (SRM) organization currently being put into place to provide customers with “one SITA face” for all commercial and customer support service management. The SITA restructuring has covered nine regions.
SITA is global service provider of IT business solutions and communications services to the air transport industry. Its role is increasing in the region as more than $40 billion worth of airport developments are currently taking place across the Middle East on the back of a booming regional economy. Regional airport growth is accelerating rapidly to cope with the huge projected increase in commercial air traffic, while record oil prices and booming regional economies have enabled Middle East governments to allocate billions of dollars for infrastructure development.
