JEDDAH, 21 September 2006 — Saudi teams Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab were knocked out of the AFC Champions League football tournament last night.
Al-Karama ended the reign of two-time defending champions Ittihad with a 4-0 victory in extra time in the second leg at the Khaled Bin Al-Waleed Stadium in Homs, Syria for a 4-2 aggregate win. Ittihad won the first leg of the quarterfinal series 2-0 in Jeddah last week.
Ulsan Horang-i of South Korea beat Shabab 1-0 in the second leg to go through to the semifinals on 7-0 aggregate victory. The second leg was played at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. Horang won the opening leg of the home-and-away quarterfinal in Ulsan by 6-0.
