MAKKAH, 11 October 2006 — Two thieves knew so little about technology that they severely undercut themselves as they tried to sell a stolen laptop to a computer merchant, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. Red flags popped up in the vendor’s mind when the two men named a price for a used laptop that was less than a third of what anyone with a little knowledge of computers would expect. Pretending to take a phone call, the merchant quietly informed the police and then stalled the men by haggling over the laptop until authorities arrived. The men were arrested after it was discovered that the laptop in question had been stolen from a home three days prior to the arrest.
