DUBAI, 13 October 2006 — Zagloul Mohammed Al-Najar, the Islamic Personality of the Year of the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award (DIHQA), received his one-million-dirham prize last night from Sheikh Mohammad ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum, ruler of Dubai at a glittering ceremony.
The Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award Committee selected Al-Najar as DIHQA’s Islamic personality of the year for his significant lectures, which are loaded with information on scientific miracles in the Holy Qur’an.
Al-Najar, who holds a PhD from Wales University in geology, commended Sheikh Mohammad’s effort in promoting Islam.
Al-Najar, who is a professor at the King Saud University in Riyadh, said: “If we want the West to understand Islam and the Holy Qur’an, they must be explained in a rational language. Presenting our faith to the West will solve a lot of problems the Muslim world faces today,” said Al-Najar in a media interview.
