JEDDAH, 9 November 2006 — The Ministry of Culture and Information is holding various cultural events in Egypt under the name “Saudi Cultural Days,” which will begin on Nov. 14 and last 13 days.
Deputy Minister of Culture Abu Baker Bagader, who made the announcement, said that on display will be multiple cultural events, including lectures, poetry and fiction readings; plays, art, sculpture and photography exhibitions; children’s cultural programs and movie shows. The events will be held in Cairo, Alexandria, Fayoum, Ismailiya and Al-Buhaira.
Many Saudi writers, artists and actors have been asked by the Ministry of Culture and Information to participate in these events.
The events are open to all and the events are both family- and couple-friendly.
The ministry has said that both Saudi men and women writers and poets will be able to deliver presentations. They will be given the equal amount of stage time.
For the first time, Egypt — considered to be a pioneer in the Arab film industry — will be witnessing the screening of Saudi movies.
The films were shown in the “Jeddah Short Movies Festival” that took place in July.
