RIYADH, 9 November 2006 — The Delhi Public School (DPS) celebrated its annual day with speakers stressing the need for high quality education for the children of Indian expatriates.
Indian Ambassador M.O.H. Farook appreciated the role of the school in imparting high-quality education.
The event, attended by some 2,000 children and parents, was celebrated with great fanfare in Riyadh on Tuesday. Farook also distributed awards to meritorious students.
“The DPS is marching ahead with its agenda of providing high-quality education to the children of the expatriate community enabling them to compete with students in India,” said Farook, who was the chief guest at the event.
Nadeem Tarin, chairman of the DPS managing committee, and A.J. Siromani, the principal of the school also spoke. Tarin said that the growth of the school has been phenomenal during the last two years. He added that the DPS would also coordinate with some prestigious Indian academic institutions to run distance-learning programs in future.
In the welcome speech, Siromani said, “Our objective is to offer quality education.” He promised that in order to achieve this the school would go the extra mile “in fulfilling the cherished desire to be the number one institution in the Kingdom.” Later, junior students entertained guests with traditional dancing and singing. The school has an enrolment of about 1,000 students and a highly professional faculty — a mix of DPS-trained staff and local talent.
