UAE’s Economic Stability Impresses Greek President

ABU DHABI, 29 November 2006 — Greek President Karolos Papoulias, who is on a visit, has hailed the economic stability and all-round development achieved by the UAE under the leadership of its rulers. He also encouraged businessmen from both countries to explore newer avenues for enhanced trade between the UAE and Greece during a meeting with UAE’s Economy Minister Sheikha Lubna Al-Qassimi at Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Papoulias stressed the fact that the UAE and Greece have always enjoyed very cordial and fruitful relationship for a long time and this visit will help in further improving the bilateral relationship. Sheikha Lubna highlighted various initiatives being taken by the UAE government to attract the international investors and to create world-class facilities for the residents and visitors alike.

A high level delegation is accompanying the Greek president which includes Mercantile Marine Minister Emmanuel Kefalogiannis, Christos Folias and Petros Doukas, both deputy ministers of economy and finance, and Evripidis Stylianidis, deputy minister of foreign affairs.

“We’re aware that Greece has gained expertise in various sectors, especially in the development of tourism, health care, construction, shipping industry and in the production of various consumer and industrial goods,” said Khalil Sharif Foulathi, first vice president of the ADCCI.
