JEDDAH, 29 December 2006 — Gold’s Gym, which boasts membership of 3,000 men and 5,000 women, was picked the best Gold’s Gym worldwide. To celebrate the happy occasion Gold’s Gym organized a number of activities recently.
Gold’s Gym International bestowed the award, its equivalent of the Oscar, to Gold’s Gym Jeddah which enjoyed big success in only its first year of operations. The massive celebration at Gold’s Gym featured shows and sports in the women’s and men’s sections.
On the women’s side the proceedings started with a light show. There was the combo show presentation which included all the trainers, a stand up comedy, and an Oscar presentation by CEO Dr. Rither to COO Makarem Batterjee for the most successful Gold’s Gym world wide, done from the male section and broadcasted to both sides. The women’s side followed with a karate show by Manal and several young women. Then the women did basketball shooting, a step show, a traditional Saudi dance, followed by the rebound show. Men’s volleyball was broadcasted from the male section.
One of the program highlights was the exhibition basketball game between Al-Ittihad led by star player Ali Mugraby and the Arab News-sponsored Golden Game All Stars. The game was a huge success. Retired players from the Jeddah clubs played a fun filled game which was enjoyed by all.
The Gold’s Gym staff led by Captain Assad, who also was the announcer of the events on the men’s side, presented the amazing program which started with a light show followed by an aerobic show, stand up comedy, arm wrestling competition, strongest man competition, martial arts show, Qusai show, spinning exhibition, and a beach volley ball game.
The main sponsors of the fitness center’s anniversary were Areca International, Nike, Phillips, Pepsi, Bison, Lamborghini, Bentley, Al-Glasson Motors, Al-Dalai and Coty Davison Trading Company. The supportive staff was lead by CEO Dr. Rida Ali, COO Makarem Batterjee, Marketing Manager Hani Al Zed and Assistant Marketing Manager Louay Oudah.
