JEDDAH, 10 January 2007 — Saudi singer Abdullah Rashad is busy putting the final touches to his new television channel, which will be launched in a few months, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
The singer will simultaneously release a new album to mark the occasion. The album contains 12 songs, which are written and composed by Saudi and Gulf poets.
Rashad also announced that he would lend his voice for a campaign aimed at children, which highlights the importance of drinking milk.
Musical Extravaganza Launched in Qatar
DOHA, 10 January 2007 — The curtains went up on the 8th Arab musical extravaganza in Doha yesterday. From its inception in 2000, the annual event has attracted singers from all over the Arab world, the Al-Jazirah daily reported yesterday.
Some of the participants of the five-day event include Abdul Wahab Al-Doukali, Majed Al-Mohandes, Tunisian singer Saber Al-Robaei and Ahlam.
