DUBAI, 13 January 2007 — Bateaux Dubai — a unique dining vessel that cruises Dubai Creek — is to sponsor for the third time the Dubai-based Candlelight Foresight charity dinner.
The aim of the event is to raise money for researchers to find a cure for people suffering from blindness.
David Thomson, general manager corporate affairs of Jebel Ali International Hotels, said he is delighted to support Candlelight Foresight for the third year running: “Bateaux Dubai is deeply committed to charity, and we are eager to always being highly involved in supporting a good cause and extending help to people around the world.”
The event, which will take place on Jan. 17, is also supported by Team Dubai, a group of 10 amateur runners taking up the challenge of running two marathons in a period of four months for a good cause. They are determined to raise AED250,000 for Foresight and funds for the RNIB through fund raising events and fitness challenges culminating in the London Marathon 2007.
They have already helped orchestrate a very successful golf event and will be hosts at an evening on the Bateaux Dubai.
Foresight is a Dubai-based organization that raises funds for research to accelerate a cure for blindness caused by Retinitis Pigmentosa, a disease which affects millions of people worldwide. The organization also aims to support people within the community who suffers from visual impairment and raise public awareness of the difficulties these individuals face in their everyday lives.
