JEDDAH, 23 January 2007 — A festival on the late Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz was opened at the International Arab Institute in Paris recently, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
The institute organized the festival, which will run until mid March, in collaboration with the Egyptian Cultural Center and some French universities.
16 out of 50 films produced in Arab and Latin American countries based on the Nobel laureate’s novels and short stories will be featured in the festival.
Two films will be shown every Sunday evening over the coming two months.
