ALIGARH, India, 24 January 2007 — The former chief justice of India’s Supreme Court, A.M. Ahmadi, was yesterday re-elected chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University for three years, Rahat Abrar, public relations officer of the university, said.
Nawab Rahmatullah Khan Sherwani and Mahfooz Ahmad, former economic adviser to the federal government, were elected pro-chancellor and honorary treasure respectively, of the prestigious university.
Forty-two representatives from different categories were also elected to the University Court during its annual meeting yesterday.
