Another Milestone for IGNOU

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the largest Mega University in the world, established by an act of Indian Parliament in 1985 with the objective to disseminate high quality higher education through distance mode. The university has been a pioneer in distance education and the recipient of the Center of Excellence in Distance Education Award conferred by the Commonwealth of Learning.

IGNOU has 1.5 millions students with extremely varied profiles, spread throughout the length and breadth of the country. The university has an efficient and effective networking of 58 regional centers and 1400 study centers, all over India. As an open university, IGNOU has come a long way since 1985, having crossed national boundaries providing higher education as well as assisting other developing countries in this regard. At present, IGNOU offers its academic programs in 38 countries through its network of partner institutions.

IGNOU-Saudi Arabia which started in January 2004, has enabled many to pursue higher studies opening a vista of career opportunities for the expatriates.

IGNOU-Saudi Arabia functions under the patronage of the Indian Embassy and Consulate with full support of Ambassador M.O.H. Farook and Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed.

IGNOU-Saudi Arabia achieved another milestone by announcing 100 percent results for the first batch of B. Ed. and MA in English.

“This year our student Mrs. Sabitha Rahim secured the first rank in International divisions of IGNOU in MA English literature, once again bringing the merits of our division to the fore,” Riaz Mulla, general manager of ATEICO Communications said. He also said that last year “our student Mr. Chacko Alunachal got a gold medal for PGDFM.

The university currently has more than 900 students studying in various disciplines and with the passage of three years since its inception, it has proved its credentials with the best results it has been producing every year. The admission intake is twice in a year for January and July sessions.

The examinations are conducted every year in the months of June and December under the supervision of the Indian Embassy and Indian Consulate.
