DAMMAM, 28 January 2007 — Studies are under way to introduce two more lanes for truck traffic on the King Fahd Causeway that links Bahrain to Saudi Arabia to facilitate increased bilateral trade, a joint meeting of the customs officials held in Bahrain recently said. The meeting discussed ways to help enhance the business activities between the two countries. Saudi customs authorities also said they would begin 24-hour-per-day operations. Studies are also being made on extended working hours for the goods being imported from Bahrain. Transport will also be allowed on Fridays.
They supported the proposal for introducing two lanes for trucks — one for loaded trucks and another for empty trucks.
