German Trade Mission, JCCI Hold Exploratory Talks

JEDDAH, 31 January 2007 — A German business delegation headed by Minister of Economy, Labor and Transportation of Lower Saxony, Walter Hirche, visited the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) yesterday to establish relations between Saudi and German small and medium entrepreneurs.

The delegation represents various sectors in industry and services including construction, machinery, management system and education.

“The delegation is not concentrated in one field. They represent construction, services, machinery and also education because we believe that businesses should have broader relations. We are looking into infrastructure projects such as the airport expansion project where we have management systems companies that can find economized solutions to problems,” Hirche to Arab News.

JCCI Chairman Saleh Al-Turki said “there are no contracts or specific agreements to be signed. This is an exploratory delegation looking into opportunities in small-to-medium businesses, some good ideas and partners in the Saudi market.”

The delegation held one-to-one meetings at their hotel with their Saudi counterparts to explore opportunities and familiarize each other with the business market in their respective fields.

They will head to Dammam today before returning to Germany. The business group is from the province of Lower Saxony.
