AMMAN, 11 February 2007 — US Oversees Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) yesterday unveiled $566 million in new future projects for Jordan and neighboring countries, the US embassy said in a statement.
OPIC will support three investment funds in Jordan with a minimum of $230 million, OPIC President and CEO Robert Mosbacher said during a signing ceremony. “The projects we announce today will provide vital capital to growing companies in both Jordan and its neighbors in the Middle East and North Africa.” He said Emerging Markets Housing Fund has with a capital of $300 million.
OPIC also signed an agreement for the setting up of a $150 million fund for investments in small-and medium-sized enterprises in Jordan. Target sectors include telecommunications, information technology, banking and insurance.
