JUBAIL, 12 February 2007 — The Association of Malayalee Professionals in Saudi Arabia (AMPS) recently conducted a Children’s Fest and Talent Show (CFTS) aimed at recognizing and encouraging new talent and improving the skills of children in the Indian community. As many as 188 schoolchildren from lower kindergarten to class 10 competed for more than 100 prizes in 16 categories including singing, the playing of musical instruments, acting, extempore speech, fancy dress, storytelling, classical dance and cinematic dance. “It was truly a mega event that showcased 380 individual performances,” said one of the organizers. The program was held at three venues in a Jubail camp facility.

Baby Mathew Somatheeram, managing director of Jeevan TV, was the chief guest.

The AMPS-CFTS has now become a prominent annual feature for the Indian community in the Eastern Province. The organization is gearing up for an event called the ‘India Quiz’ — another big event for children, scheduled to take place in April.
