OFWs Invited to Audition in Pinoy Pop Superstar World Challenge

JEDDAH, 22 February 2007 — Filipino singers in the Kingdom who wish to join the Pinoy Pop Superstar World Challenge of GMA 7 are being invited to an audition tomorrow in Riyadh and Jeddah.

Those who qualify will compete in the semifinals for the Kingdom, scheduled at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on March 9, according to Orbit Channel, a partner of GMA 7.

The winner in Saudi Arabia will be sent to Manila for the April 29 World Challenger Showdown, competing with champions from other countries.

Whoever emerges No. 1 in the World Challenger Showdown will get a cash prize of $10,000 and vacation package for four to a Philippine tourist destination, plus the chance to compete in the Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Finals at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila's suburb of Quezon City on June 3.

The champion in the grand finals stands to win a GMA recording contract, GMA management contract, a brand new house and lot, brand new car and one million pesos (about $20,000).

To qualify for the audition in Jeddah and Riyadh, one must be within the 18-25 years old age bracket until June 30, must have exceptional singing voice coupled with major superstar quality, and has no existing management contract, organizers said.
