DUBAI, 23 February 2007 — The volume of trade recorded at Gulfood this year is set to break all previous records, with a high number of exhibitors already closing multi-million dollar deals at the region’s largest hospitality, food and beverage show.
On the last day of the show, deals worth over $10 million (AED36.7 million) were signed by several local and international players.
The biggest deal worth over $2 million was clinched by The Irish Dairy Board, which had already sold 600 tons of dairy products by the third day of the event. The other prime deals were bagged by Spice and dried fruit processor and packager Gyma to ship spices to Syria and South Africa and La Marquise International who won a contract to supply machines, ingredients, training and services to over 100 shops in the GCC.
“The phenomenal growth of Gulfood 2007 is proof of its top-notch reputation and its standing in the competitive global arena,” DWTC Director General Helal Saeed Al-Marri said.
