ABU DHABI, 4 March 2007 — The Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls is hosting a monthlong forum, led by prominent UAE women who have emerged as role models and made outstanding contributions in the social, economic, political and cultural sectors of the country.

The forum, titled “Women As Leaders”, which runs throughout March at the Academy’s campus, will feature distinguished personalities including Amal Abdullah Juma Karam Al-Qubeisi, the first woman member to be elected to the UAE Federal National Council, Habiba Marashi, chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and Nadia Buhannad, renowned columnist, psychologist and entrepreneur.

“The forum aims to recognize the work of these dynamic Emirati women in the fast changing, progressive global and local societies and at the same time encourage students to aspire to roles, which impact positively on the lives of others,” said Barbara McKenzie, principal of the academy.

Kathleen E. Slaughter, associate dean and professor of Management Communications at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, launched the forum recently.

On Wednesday, Buhannad will be speaking on UAE businesswomen, combining her experiences in social psychology and student behavior.
